The International Coastal Clean-up Day was observed in Puducherry today.
Organised by the Indian Coast Guard at Rock beach near the Gandhi statue, the clean-up drive was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan.
Legislators Vaidyanathan and Kalyanasundaram, Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan, Coast Guard Commander DIG Taseela and senior officials took part.
More than 500 NSS and NCC students and social workers participated in the cleaning activity.
On the occasion, the Coast Guard conducted adventure demonstrations with helicopters and boats in the sea.
