Madhya Pradesh is scorching under a severe heatwave, with orange and yellow alerts issued for several districts as the mercury touched 47 degrees Celsius in the state for the first time this season.
The intense heat and blazing sun have made daily life extremely difficult. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for severe heatwave conditions in districts including Datia, Bhind, Rewa, Satna, Panna, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and Niwadi.
A yellow alert has also been issued for Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur and several other districts. The heatwave is expected to continue for the next three to four days.
On Tuesday, Naugaon recorded 47 degrees Celsius, while Khajuraho registered 46.4 degrees Celsius. This is the first time this season that the temperature has reached 47 degrees Celsius in the state. In 22 cities across Madhya Pradesh, the maximum temperature crossed 44 degrees Celsius.
