On West Bengal records voter turnout in the first phase of Assembly elections, Congress MP Rajeev Shukla said that it is surprising and a very good thing that so many people have participated in the voting.

Talking to reporters, Mr Shukla noted that all political parties are interpreting the high voter turnout as being in their favour. However, he added that the true impact of voter participation will only be clear once the election results are announced.
