In a landmark development for the region’s supply chain, a special milk freight train carrying Amul products has reached Jammu and Kashmir from Gujarat, marking a historic first in ensuring bulk dairy transportation to the Union Territory via rail. The train, equipped with specialised refrigerated containers, transported large quantities of milk and dairy products, ensuring quality and freshness upon arrival.

 

This milestone is seen as a major boost to food supply resilience, especially in regions that often face weather-related disruptions. The move will help meet rising consumer demand while also stabilising prices and reducing dependency on traditional road-based supply routes.

 

Authorities highlighted that the introduction of dedicated freight services for dairy products will not only enhance availability but also open new avenues for efficient inter-state trade.
