Falta repoll: TMC candidate Jahangir Khan announces his withdrawal from repoll

In West Bengal, Trinamool Congress candidate Jahangir Khan today announced his withdrawal from the upcoming repoll in the Falta Assembly constituency. Khan stated that his move was motivated by a desire for peace and development in the region, praising the new BJP-led government’s special package for Falta.
On the other hand, in a statement, Trinamool Congress said, the decision taken by Jahangir Khan to withdraw his candidature from the Falta re-poll is his personal decision and not that of the party.
It may be mentioned that the Election Commission had earlier declared the April 29 polls void, citing widespread malpractice, and ordered a complete repoll across all 285 booths on 21st May. Counting will take place on 24th May
With Khan stepping aside, the contest will now be between BJP’s Debangshu Panda, Congress’s Abdur Razzak Molla, and CPI(M)’s Sambhu Nath Kurmi.
