Fagu Holi festival is being celebrated in the mountain and hilly districts with huge fanfare on Monday. On the full moon day of the month of Fagun, according to the Nepali calendar, people perform rituals of Holika dahan. Traditionally, to celebrate the arrival of spring, people smear colours and splash coloured water on one another. People gather together to sing and dance to traditional music.
It’s a public Holiday in Nepal on the occasion of Fagu Holi. In the Kathmandu Valley for Holika Dahan, people gather to perform rituals at Basantapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. In the afternoon, the crowd increases at Durbar Square, especially for the youth to play with Holi Colours.
President of Nepal Ramchandra Paudel has said that the Holi festival is celebrated with joy and happiness to celebrate the victory of virtue over vice and express goodwill.
