Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has criticised the Opposition for not allowing the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha. Addressing a press conference in the National Capital today, Ms Gupta said it was unfortunate that even after 78 years of India’s Independence, women in the country are still struggling to get proper representation in Parliament and state assemblies.
She added that the Central Government expected all political parties to come together in support of women’s rights, but the Opposition did not cooperate. Chief Minister Gupta accused opposition parties of using baseless reasons to block the bill.
