Congress deceived women across country on Women’s Reservation Bill: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi

Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the Congress has deceived women across the country on the Women’s Reservation Bill.

He alleged that the Congress party is spreading false propaganda that the seat representation of South Indian states will decrease during constituency delimitation. He clarified that there will be no reduction in the number of seats.

Mr Joshi was addressing a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram. He further said that despite being given accurate information about the delimitation process, the Opposition opposed the bill in order to prevent the implementation of women’s reservation. He added that Congress had opposed women’s reservation even in the past.

The Union Minister noted that when the Women’s Reservation Bill was introduced in Parliament in 2010 during the UPA government, the BJP had fully supported the bill. However, due to opposition from alliance partners, Congress was not willing to move forward with it. Mr Joshi also accused the Opposition of trying to mislead the people of the country with false information. BJP State Vice President R. Sreelakha, State Secretary MP Anjana, and Deputy Mayor G. Ashanath were also present during the press conference.
