Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to develop Amaravati as a major economic hub and growth engine for Andhra Pradesh. Chairing the 60th meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) at the State Secretariat in Amaravati the previous day, the Chief Minister emphasised that all capital city constructions must reflect Telugu culture and traditions. He instructed officials to accelerate infrastructure development in the capital region, including the construction of an iconic bridge across the Krishna River connecting Amaravati with Vijayawada.
He said that government buildings, including the Assembly, should feature innovative designs and provide a world-class visitor experience. Highlighting Amaravati as a growth engine for Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister said the capital should become a hub for investment and economic activity. The 60th CRDA meeting approved several major projects, including ₹1,208.41 crore for Twin Towers in Quantum Valley, ₹2,540 crore for Secretariat, GAD and HOD towers works, and ₹798 crore for civil works of the Assembly building.
Representatives of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani met the Chief Minister and briefed him on the progress of their Amaravati campus. They said that, with an investment of ₹250 crore, the campus will be built in three phases with a capacity for 10,000 students. They informed that admissions will commence from the 2027 academic year. The Chief Minister suggested promoting startups in quantum technology through the campus.
