In Chhattisgarh, the government has taken action in connection with the Vedanta power plant accident. An FIR has been registered against ten persons, including Anil Agarwal, Chairman of the Vedanta Group. A preliminary inquiry by the Industrial Safety Department has indicated negligence in the implementation of safety standards at the plant. It may be noted that 20 workers have lost their lives so far in the accident that occurred on April 14. The police have initiated an investigation, fixing responsibility on the concerned officials and the management. The state government has directed strict action against those found responsible. A detailed inquiry into the cause of the incident is underway.
