Campaigning for the second phase of the assembly elections is in full swing in the West Bengal. Senior BJP leader and Home Minister Amit Shah addressed rallies today in Dum Dum, Habra, and Saptagram. Speaking in Saptagram, Mr. Shah accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for large-scale corruption in the state. He alleged that she came to power through the votes of infiltrators. He promised that if the BJP forms the government, a Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in the state after 5th May.
In Kolkata’s Jorasanko, Nadia’s Chakdaha, and Howrah’s Udaynarayanpur, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath campaigned in support of BJP candidates. He criticized the Trinamool Congress on the issues of corruption, employment, and industries. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also held rallies in Kalna and Bongaon.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress leader and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee campaigned in Amdanga and Haripal. At Haripal, she countered BJP’s allegations on infiltration, pointing out that armored vehicles have been deployed for elections in Bengal, but such measures were absent during the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Later, she led a march from Shankar Math in Ramrajatala to the statue of Swami Vivekananda in Beleghata.
The CPI (M), Congress and other parties are also intensifying their campaigns. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a rally tomorrow in Krishnanagar, Nadia, in support of BJP candidates.
