And, now time for our segment DATELINE INDIA in which we take a look at the developments taking place at national or global level. Today we will talk about Shilp Didi Mahotsav.

Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, visited the ‘Shilp Didi Mahotsav,’ a fortnight-long marketing event dedicated to the Shilp Didi Programme,where  Shilp Didis are being provided with an opportunity to showcase their crafts at Dilli Haat from 16th August 2024 to 31st August 2024. 

Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh interacted with Shilp Didis to understand their challenges & encouraged them to further develop entrepreneurship and utilise social media in their economic journey. He said that the Mahotsav provides a unique platform for the Shilp Didis to expand their market reach and attract new customers for their handicraft creations.

देश में महिलाएं खासतौर पर ग्रामीण महिलाएं हर क्षेत्र में सशक्त हो रही हैं, विशेषतौर पर अब उन्हें आर्थिक आज़ादी मिल रही है। और ऐसे में शिल्प दीदी जैसे प्रोग्राम महिलाओं को आर्थिक आज़ादी के और करीब ले जाने वाला रास्ता है। पूरे भारत में महिला कारीगरों के बीच आर्थिक सशक्तीकरण और वित्तीय स्वतंत्रता को बढ़ावा देना है। वस्त्र मंत्री गिरीराज सिंह ने शिल्प दीदी पहल की सराहना करते हुए महिला कारीगरों को सशक्त बनाने, उन्हें अपने व्यवसाय को बढ़ाने और वित्तीय स्वतंत्रता के लिए ज़रूरी सहायता और ज्ञान प्रदान करने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम बताया।

इस महोत्सव का उद्देश्य उन्हें कार्यक्रम के तहत ई-कॉमर्स के माध्यम से अपनी आय बढ़ाना और मार्केटिंग के मौके देना है। क्योंकि शगुन आपके पास हुनर है  लेकिन उसे दिखाने के लिए कोई मंच नहीं होता। और ऐसे में शिल्प दीदी जैसा प्लेटफॉर्म मिलना, जहां आपको अपना टैलेंट दिखाने का मौका मिल रहा है। आपके हुनर के कद्रदान आपकी कला को देखेंगे और सराहेंगे, ये महिलाओं के आर्थिक सशक्तिकरण का बड़ा अवसर है।

इस कार्यक्रम में देश भर से हस्तशिल्प कृतियां होंगी और जो कला प्रेमी हैं, उन्हें शिल्प दीदियों की इस कारीगरी को देखने का मौका मिलेगा।

The office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) under the aegis of Ministry of Textiles has launched the ‘Shilp Didi Programme’ on a pilot basis for 100 days. The primary objective of the Shilp Didi Programme is to foster economic empowerment and financial independence among female artisans throughout India.

The initiatives commenced with e-training from June 2024 and includes components of E-commerce on-boarding, Entrepreneurship Development, Regulatory and social media On-boarding, Marketing Opportunities, etc.

एक सर्वे में 100 महिला कारीगरों की पहचान की, जिन्हें शिल्प दीदी के रूप में जाना जाता है, ये महिलाएं 23 राज्यों के 72 जिलों से चुनी गईं। कार्यक्रम में कुल 30 विभिन्न शिल्प कलाएं शामिल हैं, जो दिखाता है कि एक ही कला के कितने रूप हो सकते हैं।

मंत्री के दौरे के दौरान, कपड़ा सचिव, विकास आयुक्त (हस्तशिल्प) और विकास आयुक्त (हथकरघा) और मंत्रालय के अन्य अधिकारी भी उपस्थित थे।

Dili Haat is observing Shilp Didi Mahotasav, an event that celebrates women’s empowerment. Shilp Didis are being provided with the opportunity to exhibit their crafts . The highest priority is given to the financial independence and economic empowerment of women artisans. The Minsitry of textiles has launched the Shilp Didi Programme on a pilot basis for 100 days. Talkingto Akashvani Shilp Didi Shipra Ghosh expressed happiness for getting the opportunity to exhibit her products at the Mahotsav.

The Central Government’s initiative to uplift and celebrate India’s rich handicraft heritage has brought a moment of pride for Andhra Pradesh. In a remarkable achievement, Velayudham Srinivasulu, a distinguished artisan from Srikalahasti, Tirupati district, has been selected to represent India on the global stage. He will showcase the exquisite Kalamkari art at the closing ceremony of the Paris Paralympics, scheduled from September 5th to 9th.

देश भर से केवल पांच कारीगरों को इस अंतरराष्ट्रीय कार्यक्रम में अपनी कला प्रस्तुत करने के लिए चुना गया है। प्रतिष्ठित शिल्प गुरु पुरस्कार से सम्‍मानित वेलायुधम श्रीनिवासुलु आंध्र प्रदेश से इस कार्यक्रम में हिस्सा ले रहे हैं।

आकाशवाणी से विशेष बातचीत में श्रीनिवासुलु ने केंद्र सरकार के प्रति बेहद खुशी और आभार व्यक्त किया। उन्होंने इतने महत्वपूर्ण आयोजन में कलमकारी कला को प्रस्तुत करने के अवसर को एक सम्मान का अवसर बताया, जो न केवल उनके लिए बल्कि विश्व मंच पर भारतीय हस्तशिल्प की समृद्ध परंपरा के लिए एक मील का पत्थर है।

Today, we bring a story of a NGO  from Nagaland named the “Charity Club Multipurpose Society” formed by a group  of 25-30 determined women whose shared dream and a desire for change has helped many and improve living standards in their community today. Back in 1989 in Wokha district of Nagaland, these determined women came together with  the mission to serve the oppressed and underprivileged, while promoting peace, justice, and rights for all. Their vision was to build a world where equality and justice were not just ideals but realities for everyone.

In its early years, Charity Club Multipurpose Society operated with limited self-generated funds, unaware of external funding opportunities. Despite this, they worked tirelessly to improve living standards in their community. Recognizing the need for more resources, the Society officially registered under the Nagaland Societies Registration Act on June 15, 1994, gaining legal status and access to broader support. Today, the Charity Club Multipurpose Society has expanded to 60 members, including 6 Board Members and 2 advisors.

As  Charity Club Multipurpose Society grew, so did its impact. Many who passed through its programs found employment with Self Help Groups, private enterprises, or even started their own businesses. The Society has also earned recognition for its efforts.

In 2004, the Society’s Chairperson, Mhalo Ezung, was honored with the Bharat Excellence Award and Gold Medal, a testament to her leadership and the Society’s impact. Through the initiatives, the Charity Club Multipurpose Society continues to foster a sense of community and pride among the people it serves. From a humble beginnings, the society has grown into a force for good, making a profound impact on the lives of those it touches. As  Charity Club Multipurpose Society moves forward, it remains committed to its mission of creating a better future for all. What began as a small group of women with a shared vision has grown into a beacon of hope and empowerment, touching countless lives in Wokha and beyond.

राजस्थान के बांसवाड़ा जिले में हर साल अन्य जिलों के मुकाबले ज्यादा बारिश होती है, लेकिन इस बार जिले में मानसून में बारिश कमजोर रही है। जिले में अब तक सामान्य से 33 प्रतिशत कम पानी बरसा है। कम बारिश को देखते हुए कल महिलाओं अपनी 100 साल पुरानी ‘धाड़’ परपंरा को निभाया। यह परंपरा बहुत निराली होती है और माना जाता है की इससे भगवान इंद्र प्रसन्न होते हैं।

बांसवाड़ा में महिलाओं ने पुरुषों की तरह धोती-कुर्ता, सिर पर पगड़ी पहनकर और हाथों में लट्ठ व तलवार लेकर ‘धाड़’ निकाली। सशस्त्र महिलाएं ने टामटिया से होते हुए बरकोटा, छाजा के वागेश्वरी माताजी मंदिर में लोकगीतों के साथ पूजा अर्चना की। वहां से कथिरिया, कांगलिया होते हुए अनास नदी के पास प्राचीन गौतमेश्वर महादेव मंदिर में पूजा अर्चना की। माताजी मंदिर के बाहर सभी महिलाओं ने धारिये, तलवारें, तीर कमान, लठ्ठ लेकर लोक गीत गाते हुए गेर नृत्य किया। ये महिलाएं 10-15 किलोमीटर घूमकर वापस टामटिया के माला देवी मंदिर पहुंचीं, जहां पूजा अर्चना कर नारियल आहुतियां दी। जैसे ही यह धाड़ निकली अचानक मौसम बदल गया। बादल गरजने के साथ मूसलाधार बारिश शुरू हो गई। धाड़ के लिए निकली महिलाएं भी बारिश में भीग गयीं और उनकी मनोकामना पूरी हुई।

We are living in an age where plastic is omnipresent. From the moment we wake up to the time we go to bed, plastic is woven into nearly every part of our lives. It’s convenient, but it comes with a hefty price: detrimental effects on our health and our environment.” The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has launched an innovative campaign to curb plastic pollution and achieve a plastic-free Gujarat.

Temples, bustling with devotees, often become hotspots for plastic waste. But thanks to an innovative campaign by the Gujarat Pollution Control Board, GPCB, this challenge is being met with creativity and technology.  GPCB has installed cloth bag vending machines—similar to ATMs—at all the prominent temples across the state providing devotees with easy access to reusable cloth bags. Similarly, reverse vending machines for plastic bottles, have been installed at seven major ST bus stands and one railway station, which have already recycled over 9,500 bottles in just two months. Currently, 14 machines have been installed at prominent temples in the state. Devotees can now receive prasad in eco-friendly cloth bags from these machines by paying Rs5 per bag by either inserting a ₹5 coin or paying through UPI mode.  Chairman of the GPCB R.B. Barad, said, Vending Machines have been installed to reduce plastic bag usage and promote cloth bags, making eco-friendly options more accessible and beneficial for everyone. He said the initiative has received a positive response from temple devotees, with over 5,000 bags sold within 60 days. To further expand this initiative, GPCB plans to install similar machines at 250 Amul Parlour outlets across the state within the next month.

Kalyanji Virji Shah (30June 1928 – 24 August 2000) With younger brotherAnandji, Kalyanji Virji Shah, was one of the legendary music duos of Hindicinema. With over 250 films in Hindi (and a few in Gujarati), to their credit, the brothers Kalyanji-Anandji were one of the successful composers.

1968 तथा 1974 में सर्वश्रेष्ठ संगीतकार का ‘राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार’ तथा ‘फ़िल्म फेयर पुरस्कार’, ‘पद्मश्री’ (1992) कल्याण जी आनंदजी की जोड़ी ने “डॉन”, “बैराग”, “सरस्वतीचंद्र”, “क़ुर्बानी”, “मुक़द्दर का सिकंदर”, “लावारिस”, “त्रिदेव” और “सफ़र” जैसी फिल्मों में संगीत दिया। उन्होंने “कोरा कागज़” (फ़िल्म) के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ संगीत निर्देशक के लिए 1975 फ़िल्मफ़ेयर अवार्ड जीता। वर्ष 1968 में प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म ‘सरस्वती चंद्र’ के लिए कल्याणजी आनंदजी को सर्वश्रेष्ठ संगीतकार के ‘राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार’ के साथ-साथ ‘फ़िल्म फेयर पुरस्कार’ भी दिया गया। इसके अलावा 1974 में प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म ‘कोरा काग़ज़’ के लिए भी कल्याणजी आनंदजी को सर्वश्रेष्ठ संगीतकार का ‘फ़िल्म फेयर पुरस्कार’ मिला। कल्याणजी ने अपने सिने करियर में लगभग 250 फ़िल्मों में संगीत दिया। वर्ष 1992 में संगीत के क्षेत्र में बहुमूल्य योगदान के लिए उन्हें भारत सरकार ने ‘पद्मश्री’ से सम्मानित किया।

Dr. Homi N. Sethna (24 August 1923 – 5 September 2010) was an Indian nuclear scientist and achemical engineer. In the context ofbuilding nuclear fuel cycle in India, Dr. Sethna was a pioneer. Dr. Sethna took overthe leadership of BARC after the demise of Dr. Homi Bhabha in 1966 and was theChairman of Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) during 1972-1983. He was awarded thesecond highest civilian award the Padma Vibhushan in 1975.

आज अंजली देवी की जयंती है, ये भारतीय अभिनेत्री और प्रोड्यूसर थीं। इन्होंने मुख्यता साउथ सिनेमा में काम किया। इन्होंने साल 1963 में बाल कलाकार के तौर पर फिल्मों में काम करना शुरू किया। लवकुश और भक्त प्रह्लाद इनकी कुछ मुख्य फिल्में हैं। उन्होंने प्रोड्यूसर के तौर पर अनारकली और परदेसी जैसी 20 सफल फिल्मों का निर्माण किया।

दिनकर बलवंत देवधर मृत्यु- 24 अगस्त, 1993, भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी थे, जो महाराष्ट्र से थे। भारत में प्रसिद्ध क्रिकेट टूर्नामेंट ‘देवधर ट्रॉफी’ इनके नाम पर ही खेला जाता है। दिनकर बलवंत देवधर को भारतीय क्रिकेट का ग्रैंड ओल्ड मैन कहा जाता था, उन्होंने रणजी ट्रॉफी सीज़न 1940 में 48 साल की उम्र में 246 रन बनाए थे। साल 1991 में भारत सरकार ने दिनकर बलवंत देवधर को ‘पद्म भूषण’ से सम्मानित किया था।
