Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated 184 newly constructed type-seven Multi-Storey flats for Members of Parliament at Baba Kharak Singh Marg in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi said, 21st-century India is eager for development as it is sensitive to its responsibilities. He said, around 350 new MP houses have been built so far since 2014. He pointed out that despite the shortage of MP residences, not a single new housing unit was constructed for Lok Sabha MPs between 2004 and 2014.
Mr Modi said, MPs from different states will live together in these houses which symbolizes the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat. The Prime Minister said, the four towers are beautifully named after the great rivers of the country – Krishna, Godavari, Kosi and Hooghly, which give life to crores of people.
The residential complex is designed to be self-sufficient and is equipped with a full range of modern amenities to meet the functional needs of Members of Parliament.

Both Houses of the parliament have been adjourned till 2:00 PM following opposition parties’ uproar over various issues. When the Rajya Sabha assembled at 11:00 AM, Deputy Chairman Harivansh tried to run the Zero Hour. The opposition members raised the issue of Special Intensive Revision of electoral roll in Bihar and other matters.
Similar scenes were witnessed in the Lok Sabha also. When the House assembled at 11:00 AM, the opposition parties started a protest demanding discussion on the issue of Special Intensive Revision. The Speaker adjourned the House till 2:00 PM.

The BJP today accused the Congress of spreading lies and making baseless allegations against the electoral process of the country. Addressing a Press Conference today in New Delhi Union Education Minister and Senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan said Congress sometimes questions about transparency in EVMs and Sometimes rakes up issues related to the elections in Haryana and Maharashtra. Talking about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Mr Pradhan said that this is not happening for the first time as it is a regular exercise of the Election Commission to update the voter list.
Meanwhile, The Opposition MPs today staged a protest march from Parliament House Complex to the office of the Election Commission against the Special Intensive revision of electoral roll in Bihar. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi, NCP (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, JMM leader Mahua Maji, TMC MP Derek O’Brien among others took part in the protest.
Meanwhile, several opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) attempted to jump the barricades during the protest. In an effort to maintain law and order, the Delhi Police detained some MPs. Speaking to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police of New Delhi, Devesh Kumar Mahla, said that the Election Commission had issued a letter allowing only 30 MPs to visit the commission. However, over 200 MPs marched from Parliament towards the Commission. He further added that some MPs tried to breach the barricades, prompting the police to detain them.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has accused the Opposition of tarnishing the image of Constitutional Bodies like the Election Commission and Supreme Court. Addressing media in New Delhi, Mr Rijiju said that though the Election Commission has given permission to 30 opposition MPs to meet the Poll Panel to place their concerns but they did not agree to it and insisted to meet with all the protesting MPs.

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will distribute crop insurance claims worth over 3 thousand 200 crore rupees to more than 30 lakh farmers during an event in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan today. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare said that the claim payments will be digitally transferred to bank accounts of farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer.

The Supreme Court has issued strong directions to control the menace of dog bites and rabies in the National Capital Territory of Delhi to immediately catch and sterilise stray dogs and relocate them permanently to shelters. The Court warned that any person or group obstructing this drive will face legal action. Authorities are also allowed to use force if necessary. The Court said stray dogs must not be released into public areas once picked up. These directions came in a suo motu case, based on reports of stray dog attacks on children. The Court stated that infants and children must not fall prey to rabies, and that public spaces should be safe and fear-free.
