Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has underscored the need for Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) to integrate Governance, Risk Management, and Customer Protection as part of their core beliefs and ethics.

Addressing the NBFC Symposium 2025 in New Delhi, the Finance Minister said, as the NBFC model matures, the focus on risk management should increase. Ms Sitharaman highlighted that the fundamentals of the NBFC sector are underpinned by strong capital buffers, robust interest margins and earnings, and low levels of impairment.

In a major recruitment push, Indian Railways has issued over 9,000 appointments in the first quarter of the financial year 2025-26. Railways said it will offer more than 50,000 jobs by the end of the current fiscal. 

Since November 2024, the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have conducted computer-based tests (CBTs) for over 1.86 crore candidates across seven different notifications covering a total of 55,197 vacancies.

 

The large-scale examinations are part of a broader recruitment calendar that has so far announced 1.08 lakh vacancies since 2024. Railways also plans to extend its recruitment efforts into the next financial year, with another 50,000 appointments expected to be made in Financial Year 2026-27. Conducting computer-based tests at such scale is a complex logistical operation. In a move to ease the process for candidates, the Railways has taken the initiative to assign exam centres closer to candidates’ places of residence. Special preference has been given to female candidates and persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBDs).

 

To uphold transparency and fairness, the Railways has introduced Aadhaar-based e-KYC authentication for candidate verification – a first for such large-scale government exams. Railway Ministry reported a success rate of over 95% in the implementation of this digital identity verification system. Additionally, 100% deployment of electronic jammers has been ensured at all exam centres to prevent cheating through electronic devices.

The Madras high Court has imposed One lakh cost on Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner J.Kumaragurubaran over his inaction over unauthorised construction in Royapuram Zone. The first bench of Chief Justice K.Shriram and Justice Sundar Mohan directed the State Government to deduct the amount from the commissioner’s salary and deposit it into the account of the Adyar Cancer Institute. The Court passed the order on a contempt petition on the failure to comply with a Court order dated April 8, 2022 to remove unauthorised construction in Zone 5.

As part of efforts to build a more “people-friendly” image, the Bengaluru West Division police have introduced child-friendly rooms at three of their stations under a pilot project. These dedicated spaces aim to offer a calm and welcoming environment for children who visit police stations with their parents.

As many as 19 people fell ill, three critically, after consuming suspected to be spurious yesterday, were admitted to various Government Hospitals in Hyderabad. Of them 15 are undergoing treatment at NIMS Hospital, two at Gandhi Hospital and two more at a private hospital in Hyderabad. The victims consumed adulterated toddy at three different toddy shops in Kukatpally area. State Excise Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao said that the government responded promptly to the incident and took necessary steps, including seizure of the implicated toddy compounds.

दिल्ली मंत्रिमंडल ने राष्‍ट्रीय राजधानी में राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति-2020 के क्रियान्वयन को मंजूरी दे दी है। सरकार ने शहर में 900 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की लागत वाले स्मार्ट क्लास रूम को भी मंजूरी दी है। दिल्‍ली के शिक्षा मंत्री आशीष सूद ने मीडिया को व्यापक डिजिटल क्लासरूम विस्तार योजना के बारे में बताया।

दिल्ली मंत्रिमंडल ने श्री गुरु तेग़ बहादुर के शहीदी दिवस पर्व के उपलक्ष्य में राजधानी के लाल क़िला और चांदनी चौक में दो दिवसीय कार्यक्रम आयोजित करने की मंज़ूरी दी है। यह कार्यक्रम दिल्ली सरकार के कला, संस्कृति और भाषा विभाग द्वारा आयोजित किया जाएगा। कार्यक्रम में विशेष प्रकाश और ध्‍वनि शो, कीर्तन दरबार, संगोष्ठी, चित्रकला, ऐतिहासिक दस्तावेज़ों की प्रदर्शनी और श्री गुरु तेग़ बहादुर जी की शिक्षाओं का सार्वजनिक पाठ शामिल किए जाएंगे।

दिल्ली के पर्यावरण मंत्री मनजिंदर सिंह सिरसा ने सरकार के इस निर्णय को ऐतिहासिक फैसला बताया है। इसके लिए उन्‍होंने मुख्यमंत्री रेखा गुप्ता और मंत्रिमंडल के अपने सहयोगियों का भी धन्यवाद व्‍यक्‍त किया है। श्री सिरसा ने कहा कि दिल्ली में यह अपनी तरह का पहला आयोजन होगा। उन्होंने कहा कि लाल क़िले पर होने वाले इस दो दिवसीय कार्यक्रम में गुरु साहिब के बलिदान और उनकी शिक्षाओं को प्रत्‍येक नागरिक तक पहुंचाने का प्रयास करेंगे।

इसके साथ ही, दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय ने “भारतीय इतिहास में सिख शहादत” नाम से नया कोर्स शुरू किया है। इसे सिख समुदाय के न्याय, स्वतंत्रता और मानव गरिमा की रक्षा में दिए गए योगदान की औपचारिक मान्यता के रूप में देखा जा रहा है।

हम याद कर रहे हैं भिखारी ठाकुर (अंग्रेज़ी: Bhikhari Thakur, जन्म: 18 दिसम्बर 1887 बिहार – मृत्यु: 10 जुलाई, 1971) को, जो भोजपुरी के समर्थ लोक कलाकार, रंगकर्मी लोक जागरण के सन्देश वाहक, नारी विमर्श और दलित विमर्श के उद्घोषक, लोक गीत तथा भजन कीर्तन के अनन्य साधक थे। आज उनकी पुण्यतिथि है। भिखारी ठाकुर बहुआयामी प्रतिभा के व्यक्ति थे। वे एक ही साथ कवि, गीतकार, नाटककार, नाट्य निर्देशक, लोक संगीतकार और अभिनेता थे। भिखारी ठाकुर की मातृभाषा भोजपुरी थी और उन्होंने भोजपुरी को ही अपने काव्य और नाटक की भाषा बनाया। राहुल सांकृत्यायन ने उनको ‘अनगढ़ हीरा’ कहा था तो जगदीशचंद्र माथुर ने ‘भरत मुनि की परंपरा का कलाकार’। उनको ‘भोजपुरी का शेक्सपीयर’ भी कहा गया।

साहित्यिक परिचय भिखारी ठाकुर का रचनात्मक संसार बेहद सरल है- प्रमुख नाटक बिदेशिया, बेटी-वियोग, कलियुग-प्रेम, राधेश्याम-बहार।

Today we remember Arthur Wontner, a British actor best known for playing Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s master detective Sherlock Holmes in five films from 1931 to 1937. Nikola Tesla was born and raised in the Austrian Empire, Tesla first studied engineering and physics in the 1870s without receiving a degree. He then gained practical experience in the early 1880s working in telephony and at Continental Edison in the new electric power industry.

आज ही प्रसिद्ध शास्त्रीय गायिका परवीन सुल्ताना का भी जन्मदिन है। ‘पटियाला घराने’ से सम्बन्धित परवीन सुल्ताना ऐसी प्रतिभाशाली गायिका हैं, जिन्हें वर्ष 1976 में ‘पद्मश्री’ से सम्मानित किया गया था। असमिया पृष्ठभूमि से ताल्लुक रखने वाली परवीन सुल्ताना ने पटियाला घराने की गायकी में अपना अलग मुकाम बनाया है। उनके गुरुओं में ‘आचार्य चिनमोय लाहिरी’ और ‘उस्ताद दिलशाद ख़ान’ प्रमुख रहे हैं। गीत को अपनी अन्तरात्मा मानने वाली परवीन सुल्ताना की जन्म-भूमि असम और कर्म-भूमि मुम्बई रही है।

 

परवीन सुल्ताना उन चुनिन्दा शास्त्रीय गायिकाओं में से एक हैं, जिन्हें ईश्वर ने एक ऐसी अनोखी और ख़ूबसूरत आवाज़ से नवाजा, जिसका कोई सानी नहीं था। उन्हें ‘पद्मश्री’ (1976), ‘गंधर्व कला निधि’ (1980), ‘मियाँ तानसेन पुरस्कार’ (1986), संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कार – 1999 परवीन सुल्ताना ने फिल्मों के लिए आवाज दी और उनकी आवाज में इस खुबसूरत गीत के साथ उन्हें जन्मदिन की शुभकामना.

आज हिन्दी फिल्मों की प्रसिद्ध गीतकार असद भोपाली की जयंती है।(अंग्रेज़ी: Asad Bhopali, जन्म: 10 जुलाई, 1921, भोपाल; मृत्यु: 9 जून, 1990, मुम्बई), उन्हें ऐसे गीतकार में शुमार किया जाता है, जिन्होंने फ़िल्म इंडस्ट्री में 40 साल तक का लंबा संघर्ष किया। असद भोपाली का जन्म 10 जुलाई, 1921 को भोपाल के इतवारा इलाके में पैदा हुए थे। उनका वास्तविक नाम असदुल्लाह ख़ान था। उन्हें फ़िल्म ‘मैंने प्यार किया’ के लिए प्रतिष्ठित फ़िल्मफेयर पुरस्कार मिला। 1940 में मशहूर फ़िल्म निर्माता फजली ब्रदर्स ने असद के पहली बार फ़िल्म ‘दुनिया’ के लिए बतौर गीतकार साइन किया था। इसके अलावा उन्होंने ‘अफसाना’, ‘बरसात’, ‘पारसमणि’, ‘आया तूफान’, ‘जैसी कई फिल्मों में अपनी गीतों का जादू बिखेरा। पारसमणि के इस गीत ने उनके कलम का जादू मनवाया।
