The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given its approval for the PAN 2.0 Project of the Income Tax Department. The financial implications for the Project will be one thousand 435 crore rupees. Briefing reporters after the Union Cabinet meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that that the project will have robust cyber security measures. He said that the existing system will be completely upgraded.
Mr Vaishnaw also clarified that the existing Permanent Account Number will be the same.
The PAN 2.0 Project resonates with the vision of the Government enshrined in Digital India.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved investment of one thousand 939 crore rupees for construction of Heo Hydro Electric Project in Shi Yomi District of Arunachal Pradesh. The estimated completion period for the project is 50 months. Briefing media after the Union Cabinet meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, the project with an installed capacity of 240 MW would produce 1000 Million Units of energy. The Power generated from the Project will help improve the power supply position in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

Verghese Kurien (26 November 1921 – 9 September 2012) was an Indian dairy engineer and social entrepreneur. He led initiatives that contributed to the extensive increase in milk production in India termed as the White Revolution. For his contributions in increasing the dairy output, Kurien is known as the “Father of the White Revolution” in India. He was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1964 and the World Food Prize in 1989. In 1999, he received the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian honour. He was conferred the Order of Agricultural Merit by the French Government in 1997.
