Benchmark domestic equity indices snapped three day winning streak, falling nearly one per cent today dragged by IT Sector. The Sensex plunged 757 points to close at 78 thousand and 516, while the Nifty lost 199 points to settle at 24 thousand and 378. However, in the broader market on the National Stock Exchange, the Mid-cap 100 added 0.2 per cent, while the Small-cap 100 climbed over 1.1 per cent.
Earlier, markets began the session on a negative note as investors evaluated ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, with the United States to maintain its blockade until Iran agrees to a ceasefire proposal.
