Consul General of India in Seattle, Prakash Gupta said that the arrival of Indian mangoes in Seattle reflects years of effort and cooperation between India and the United States, often described as mango diplomacy. Mr Gupta made these remarks in an American TV news feature segment, detailing the preparations for the mangoes’ arrival. He said that after promotional efforts with local groceries, delivery services, and major retailers, Indian mangoes are now expected to become available in the Seattle area from tomorrow. Mr Gupta further explained that different varieties of mangoes, such as Kesar, Dasheri, Chausa, Langra, and Alphonso had distinct tastes and textures. He added that Indian mangoes held a special emotional and cultural place for Indians, as they mark the arrival of summer and were closely linked with childhood memories and family bonding.
