Punjab Police busts one of largest cyber fraud syndicates in northern India

Punjab Police busted one of the largest cyber fraud syndicates in northern India, arresting 132 people from Ludhiana and other locations. The accused were allegedly operating fake call centres that targeted victims, including foreign nationals, through pop-up scams, remote access tools, and bogus bank security alerts.

Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said police have seized one crore seven lakh rupees in cash, 98 laptops, 229 mobile phones, and 19 luxury vehicles from the accused. The arrested individuals are from Delhi, Gurugram, Dehradun, and parts of Southern India. Authorities said the gang used fake applications and impersonation of bank officials to transfer money into fraudulent accounts. Further investigation is underway.
