Andhra Pradesh: Speeding tipper lorry rammed into group of labourers in Kakinada, 6 women died

In Andhra Pradesh, six women daily wage workers died after a speeding tipper lorry rammed into a group of labourers in Kakinada district this morning. The accident occurred near Kovvuru bridge in Kakinada Rural mandal when the workers were crossing the road to reach a work site. Four women died on the spot, while two others later succumbed to injuries during treatment at hospitals in Kakinada. Police shifted the bodies for postmortem and registered a case.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the tipper lorry was travelling at high speed when it hit the workers. Expressing shock over the incident, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan conveyed condolences to the bereaved families. He said the State government would provide compensation 4 lakh rupees to the families of the deceased. He also instructed officials to implement safety measures at employment guarantee work sites located near highways and busy roads.
