Andheri Railway Station Post Office Inaugurated Under Jan Sewa Connect Initiative

The renovated Andheri Railway Station Post Office in Mumbai became the first post office in Maharashtra and the second in the country to be inaugurated under India Post’s Jan Sewa Connect initiative. The modernised facility was inaugurated by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis yesterday as part of the Department of Posts’ efforts to transform traditional post offices into digitally empowered and customer-centric service hubs.

Originally established in 1932-33, the Andheri RS Post Office has been upgraded with modern infrastructure, enhanced customer amenities, digital integration and improved service delivery systems. The post office was selected under a Proof-of-Concept initiative being implemented across 40 post offices in 17 states under the Jan Sewa Connect project. Addressing the gathering, Mr Scindia said, the initiative reflects the vision of building a futuristic and citizen-centric postal infrastructure under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. CM Fadnavis highlighted the role of India Post in ensuring last-mile connectivity and public service delivery across the country. India Post has proposed the upgradation of around 2,000 post offices across Maharashtra under the Jan Sewa Connect initiative.<>
