In Lebanon, eight people were killed today in Israeli drone strikes targeting three vehicles on the main highway south of Beirut. The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed the three strikes in a statement.
The Israeli military said it had targeted infrastructure belonging to the Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah in several areas of southern Lebanon, hours after warning residents of six southern villages to evacuate.
Lebanon and Israel are scheduled to hold another round of direct talks in Washington tomorrow, as the Trump administration pushes for a breakthrough between the two neighbours, which have technically remained in a state of war since Israel’s creation in 1948.
The latest conflict between Israel and Hezbollah began on 2nd of March, when the Lebanese militant group fired rockets into northern Israel, two days after the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran.
Lebanese Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine told reporters on Tuesday that since the ceasefire took effect, 380 people have been killed and 1,122 wounded.
