As part of the precautionary measures in view of the expected landfall of Cyclone Montha near Kakinada today, the Yanam Regional Administration has ordered the closure of liquor shops, commercial establishments, and other shops from 12 noon today.
Yanam Regional Administrator Ankit Kumar informed that sufficient numbers of JCBs and tree-cutting machines have been deployed to tackle any emergency situation. All sub-centres and the Primary Health Centres at Yanam are functioning round the clock. JIPMER Yanam has also kept medical teams ready to assist if needed.
The Public Works Department and Municipality are attending to repair and sanitation works continuously, while the Electricity Department is engaged in tree pruning to prevent power disruptions. The duration of drinking water supply has also been increased as part of the preparedness measures.
