Women’s T20 WC: New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 8 wickets

In the Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup, New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in a Group A fixture in Sharjah today.  New Zealand chased the target of 116 in 17.3 overs with Georgia Plimmer scoring 53 runs off 44 balls and Amelia Kerr 34 not out off 31 balls.  Earlier, electing to bat first, Sri Lanka scored 115 at the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. 

 

In a Group B match, Bangladesh will take on South Africa this evening at Dubai International Cricket Ground. The game will start at 7:30 PM Indian Standard Time. Currently, South Africa stands second in the group with two wins and a win against Bangladesh will take the Proteas closer to qualification.
