In the Women’s Premier League (WPL) Cricket, UP Warriorz defeated Delhi Capitals by 33 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru last night.
Delhi Capitals’ decision to bowl first backfired as UP Warriorz posted a total of 177 runs in 20 overs, losing nine wickets. For UP, Chinelle Henry scored a rapid 62 runs off just 23 balls. While Jess Jonassen claimed four wickets for Delhi Capitals.
In reply, Capitals were bowled out for 144 runs in 19.3 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues played a fighting knock, scoring 56 runs off 35 balls. However, Delhi struggled to build partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals. For UP Warriorz, Grace Harris scalped four wickets, including a hat-trick.
Kranti Goud also took four wickets for UP, while Chinelle Henry and Deepti Sharma bagged one wicket each. Henry was adjudged Player of the Match for her all-round performance.
This victory marked UP’s first points in the tournament after losing their first two matches.
