Women’s Cricket: India beats Sri Lanka by 7 Wickets in second T20

In Women’s cricket, India defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the 2nd T20 International of the five-match series in Visakhapatnam tonight. Chasing the target of 129 runs set by Sri Lanka, India reached the target in 11.5 overs. For India, Shafali Verma scored a blistering, unbeaten 69 runs off 34 balls.

For Sri Lanka, Kawya Kavindi, Malki Madara, and Kavisha Dilhari took a wicket each. Earlier, India Women won the toss and opted to bowl. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 128 for 9 in the stipulated 20 overs. Harshitha Samarawickrama was the highest scorer for Sri Lanka with 33 runs. For India, Vaishnavi Sharma and N. Shree Charani claimed two wickets each.

Led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, India is playing five T20S against Sri Lanka, as part of their Women’s T20 World Cup preparations. With this win, India is leading the five-match series 2-0. The next match of the series will be played on 26 December in Thiruvananthapuram
