Women at the Centre of India’s Development: VP Radhakrishnan

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan has said, India is moving forward through the empowerment and self-reliance of women. Addressing an interaction programme with Lakhpati Didis and Self-Help Group members at the International Fair Ground in Hapania, Tripura today, the Vice President said, the state government is playing an important role in implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of providing equal opportunities to every citizen.
 
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Vice President expressed gratitude to the Lakhpati Didis and wished that they would become Crorepati Didis in the future. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, women in the state will move further towards self-empowerment.
 
Mr. Radhakrishnan also noted that over the past ten years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has focused on placing women’s achievements at the centre of the country’s development. 
 
Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Rural Development Secretary Abhishek Singh also addressed the gathering. Later, the Vice President visited stalls displaying products made by Self-Help Groups.
