The World Health Organisation (WHO) launched its site for Pandemic Preparedness and Emergency Response at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi today.

The WHO informed that a global network of such sites is being established to conduct investigations and studies rapidly in the case of any pandemic or epidemic for a timely public health response. During the launch ceremony, the WHO Representative to India, Payden and the Director of AIIMS, Dr M Srinivas, were present.

The Director informed that the site will function in non-pandemic periods also, ensuring that the system remains robust and ready to respond effectively whenever required.
