In West Bengal, Several employees’ organisations, including the Sangrami Joutha Manch, Joutha Manch and the Sarkari Karmachari Parishad, have called a strike today demanding the immediate payment of pending Dearness Allowance (DA) to state government employees in accordance with the directive of the Supreme Court.
The organisations have also included teachers, panchayat and municipal employees in the strike in protest against the alleged move by the state government to file an application in the Supreme Court seeking to exclude them from the payment of pending DA. Meanwhile, in view of the strike called by various government employees’ organisations over the DA issue, all leave of government employees has been cancelled except in special circumstances.
According to a notification issued yesterday by the Finance Department at Nabanna, if any employee remains absent from office without a specific reason, a red mark will be recorded in the service book and one day’s salary will be deducted. However, the notification also stated that if any employee is hospitalised due to illness, on maternity leave, or on leave for medical reasons, such absence will be considered separately.
