The Election Commission of India has held poll preparedness meeting with the state Chief Electoral Officer CEO, nodal officer of the state police and central reserve police forced in Kolkata this morning. The Commission is now holding a meeting with the Chief Secretary, DGP and other senior officers of the government of West Bengal which will be followed by interaction with the Booth Level Officers and a press conference.
The full bench of the ECI including the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar arrived in Kolkata on Sunday evening to review poll preparedness ahead of Assembly Elections in West Bengal. Yesterday, the full bench of the Commission held meetings with recognized national and state political parties to gather suggestions for the electoral process.
The Commission made it clear that the objective of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is to ensure that no eligible voter be left out, while no ineligible person included in the voter list. Commission also informed, the necessary procedure under the Form 6/7/8 for voter’s inclusion, deletion and changes is going on.
