West Bengal’s Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal said that, in consequence to the Supreme Court’s directive, the training of judicial officers or judges appointed for the SIR process in the state has been completed. Sri Agarwal told reporters that judicial officers are now ready to begin their work. To resolve the complexities involved with the SIR process, representatives of the Election Commission and the judiciary met again today. The main issue was to clarify the ambiguities raised by the judiciary. The primary focus of today’s meeting was to determine the future framework of this process.
At the same time, a specific guideline has been prepared regarding the work completed so far and the method by which the work will proceed in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court Sujoy Pal clearly stated during the meeting that everyone must follow the prescribed guidelines. The entire process must be carried out in accordance with the court’s instructions. The Commission is also ready to provide the necessary administrative support for this work.
