West Asia conflict enters more intense phase with military activity spreading across several fronts

The West Asia conflict is entering a more intense phase, with military activity spreading across several fronts, direct threats exchanged between major players, and Gulf countries increasingly drawn into the fallout of the escalating confrontation. Israel says it intercepted multiple incoming threats earlier today, though a missile strike still triggered a fire at an oil refinery in the south. The Israeli military also confirmed expanding ground operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, alongside continued airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions. At the same time, Israeli forces reported strikes on Iranian government-linked sites in Tehran, marking another significant escalation in direct exchanges between Israel and Iran. In Lebanon, tensions remain high after an attack in southern Lebanon killed a UNIFIL peacekeeper. Smoke was also seen rising over Beirut’s southern suburbs following an Israeli strike on what officials described as a Hezbollah stronghold, while cross-border fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah continues. Iran has responded with its own escalation.

Kuwaiti authorities say an attack struck a power and water desalination plant, killing one Indian worker and causing significant damage. Iranian-linked strikes were also reported against additional targets, further raising fears of a broader regional confrontation. Gulf countries are voicing growing concern. Kuwait condemned the strikes as unprovoked aggression, while leaders across the GCC called for restraint and protection of civilian infrastructure.

Kuwaiti authorities remain on high alert following reported Iranian attacks targeting both military and civilian infrastructure. One projectile struck a military camp, injuring ten members of the Kuwaiti armed forces. In a separate incident, a strike hit a power and water desalination plant, damaging a service building and killing one Indian worker. The GCC Secretary General, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, expressed firm support for Kuwait and condemned what he described as repeated attacks on Gulf countries. He warned that such actions threaten regional stability and civilian lives, while calling for an immediate halt to hostilities. Kuwait says defence systems remain active, with authorities focused on protecting civilians and maintaining essential services as tensions across West Asia continue to rise.

The UAE also issued a strong condemnation, describing the attack as a terrorist act and urging all sides to return urgently to negotiations. UAE air defences also intercepted 11 ballistic missiles and 27 drones launched toward the country earlier on March 30.
