West Asia conflict enters critical stage as Iran targets key infrastructure across Gulf region

West Asia conflict has entered a critical stage with Iranian missile and drone strikes targeting key infrastructure across the Gulf region. In Bahrain, Iranian drones struck the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company today, triggering fires in several operational units. The attack follows recent strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran’s largest petrochemical complex in Mahshahr. Media reports said the fire in Bahrain has been brought under control, with no casualties reported. Authorities are assessing the damage.

In Kuwait, two power generation units were shut down after Iranian drone attacks on power and water desalination plants. According to Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, emergency teams have been deployed to maintain electricity and water supply. A separate drone strike also caused a fire at the Shuwaikh Oil Sector Complex. The Shuwaikh complex, which houses the Oil ministry and the headquarters of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, was fully evacuated with no injuries reported.

Iran has also carried out attacks in the United Arab Emirates. The UAE Ministry of Defence announced that its air defence systems intercepted nine ballistic missiles, one cruise missile, and 50 drones launched today.

The broader regional picture continues to darken. In Lebanon, Israeli strikes have intensified sharply, with at least seven hitting the southern suburbs of Beirut in a matter of hours. One strike in a densely populated neighbourhood killed at least four people, with dozens rushed to Rafik Hariri University Hospital for treatment.

The area has been under forced evacuation orders since the second of March, and while Israeli officials issue warnings on social media before strikes, many residents have nowhere to go. In southern Lebanon, an Israeli strike also killed a Lebanese Army soldier, and the Syrian-Lebanese border crossing at Masnaa was shut after the Israeli military issued an evacuation order with Syria citing security concerns. Israel’s military has reported one soldier killed in ongoing southern Lebanon operations and has continued to issue border-area evacuation warnings.

In Israel, a ballistic missile landed in an open area in Tel Aviv, while Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intelligence said Iran still holds over 1,000 missiles capable of reaching Israel. According to Israeli military sources, the Neot Hovav industrial complex near Beersheba was struck for the third time since the conflict began.

US President Donald Trump has warned that time is running out for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Senator Lindsey Graham voiced full support for striking Iranian energy sites if Tehran fails to comply.

Iran rejected the US demands and denied any ceasefire talks are underway. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said trust in Washington is at zero. Meanwhile, in global energy markets, OPEC-plus maintained its current output policy at its latest Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee meeting, giving no signal of a production increase as the alliance weighs tightening supply against mounting geopolitical risks across West Asia.
