The WAVES Bazaar has recorded confirmed business transactions worth 254 crore rupees across the film, music, animation, radio, and VFX sectors in the first one and a half days of WAVES 2025. Speaking to the media, Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, stated that with two more days remaining in this landmark summit, the figure is expected to rise significantly. Achieving another milestone, a film project titled Khidki Gaon from the Viewing Room vertical of WAVES Bazaar has finalised its post-production and VFX deal with the Asian Cinema Fund, the business fund market of the Busan International Film Festival. The project is valued at 2 crore rupees.
A business deal is currently under discussion between OML (Only Much Louder) and Gazprom Media (Russia) to sign an MoU for collaborating on a cross-cultural festivals project between Russia and India, aimed at creating collaborative content for global audiences.
Additionally, Broadvision Perspectives (India) and Fabrique d’Images Group (Europe) announced a €30 million four-film co-production alliance at WAVES Mumbai, under the Indo-French and Indo-Belgian official treaties. With each animated feature budgeted at €6-8 million, this multi-country treaty collaboration marks one of the largest Indo-European animation deals in recent history.
A major Indo-UK creative alliance was also unveiled at WAVES 2025. Amanda Groom, Founder & CEO of the UK-based The Bridge, and Munjal Shroff, Co-founder of India’s Graphiti Studios, formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-produce a slate of factual television series under the India-UK audiovisual co-production framework.
One of the most talked-about highlights at WAVES 2025 was the major announcement by Makiko Inaba, Director of the International Business Department at TV Asahi Corporation. She unveiled the launch of the “Shin Chan India Year – a landmark cultural initiative underscoring Crayon Shin-chan’s immense popularity in India. With over three decades of global acclaim and deep-rooted success in the Indian market, Shin-chan continues to capture hearts across generations.
The announcement included the Indian theatrical release of the record-breaking Shin Chan: Our Dinosaur Diary on May 9, following its successful premiere in Mumbai. A second India-centric film, The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers in India, is slated for release during Diwali 2025.
