Vice President of India, C.P. Radhakrishnan, said that India today stands firm under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, towards its journey to become Viksit Bharat by 2047. He said the nation has set an ambitious yet achievable target of building a developed, self-reliant and confident Bharat. The Vice President said that India is working to become a superpower of the world, not to dictate terms to the small countries, but not to be dictated by others. He said we are equal and human beings and must work to serve humanity as a whole.
Mr. Radhkrishnan, who was on his first visit to Punjab after becoming the Vice President, was in Phagwara near Jalandhar to present degrees to the passing out students of the Lovely Professional University on its 12th Convocation. He asked the students not to forget the values of Bharat, which include integrity, respect for diversity, compassion and a spirit of serving and giving back to society, and what good things they have learnt from their alma mater.
Speaking on the growing menace of drug abuse, Sh. Radhakrishnan said that this is a matter of grave concern. He called upon the students to not only say no to drugs but also save their friends as well from falling into this menace. This would be a big contribution to society. The Vice President lauded the role of the university during ‘Operation Sindoor’ also. He appreciated the university for standing with the nation at that crucial time.
Earlier, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, while addressing the students, said that the educational institution not only equips students with good knowledge but also helps in their overall development and hands them over to the nation as good citizens of the country. Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Ms. Mary Elizabeth Truss, who was the special guest, also presented degrees to the students.
