VP Radhakrishnan urges people to adopt natural lifestyle and live closer to nature

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan today said that the country’s traditional healing systems, such as Yoga and Ayurveda, have gained global recognition and should not be treated as secondary, as they promote both physical and mental well-being. The Vice President was addressing the gathering on the 81st anniversary celebrations of a Naturopathy Ashram run by the Naturopathy Gram Sudhar Trust at Uruli Kanchan near Pune in Maharashtra.

The Vice President urged people to adopt a natural lifestyle and live closer to nature. He noted that this philosophy was promoted by Mahatma Gandhi nearly 80 years ago through a naturopathy centre. The Vice President highlighted the adverse impact of changing dietary habits and overdependence on allopathic medicine and stressed the need to adopt natural healing practices.

He added that the Narendra Modi government has strengthened the Ministry of AYUSH to promote traditional systems of medicine. On the occasion, Mr Radhakrishnan also released a book titled Secrets of Happiness by Dr. N. G. Hegde.
