VP Radhakrishnan urges graduates to approach technology with enthusiasm and ethical vigilance

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan said that in a world where artificial intelligence, automation, biotechnology and digital connectivity are reshaping every aspect of human life, educated individuals must approach technology with both enthusiasm and ethical vigilance.

He cautioned young graduates that while digital tools can enhance productivity and connectivity, they should not be allowed to diminish the capacity for deep thinking and meaningful engagement with society.

The Vice President, who is also the Chancellor of Pondicherry University, was presiding over and delivering the convocation address at the 30th Convocation Ceremony of the university.

Mr Radhakrishnan urged graduates to become ambassadors of the National Education Policy 2020 and to carry forward its spirit of enquiry, innovation and inclusive excellence.

Describing the policy as a major shift, he said it moves education away from rote memorisation towards critical thinking, from rigid boundaries to multidisciplinary learning, and from examination-centred learning to holistic development.

Calling the youth the architects of Viksit Bharat, the Vice President underlined that development can be termed meaningful only when it is inclusive of all sections of society.

On the occasion, the Vice President also inaugurated the International Convention Centre and a 100-feet-high flag mast on the university campus.
