Vice President CP Radhakrishnan said that developed India is defined not only by economic strength and technological advancement but also by social inclusion. Addressing the Ramnath Goenka Sahitya Samman at Chennai today, the Vice President urged newspapers to give more importance to issues of national development. He said that truth, when upheld with conviction, carries its own moral authority.
On the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr Radhakrishnan said, the country’s progress must be inclusive with all languages and cultures advancing together. He said that initiatives to promote Indian languages and traditions are being taken. He said that, in the period of fast economic growth, technological and social transformation responsibility of writers are significant.
He said that the journey towards Viksit Bharat needs enlightened minds and creative expression. During the function, the lifetime achievement award was conferred to eminent Kannada writer Dr Chandrasekhara Kambara. The best fiction award was given to Subi Taba from Arunachal Pradesh, and the nonfiction award to Shubanshi Chakravarthy.
