Vice President CP Radhakrishnan today emphasised on the transformative power of meditation for building a positive and inclusive society. Speaking at the event marking the Second World Meditation Day held at Kanha Shanti Vanam on the outskirts of Hyderabad this morning, the Vice President appreciated the efforts being made by the Heartfulness movement for promoting peace, harmony and spiritual well-being across the world.
He said an open and conscious mind will bring positive transformation in public service and society at large. Emphasising the country’s ancient spiritual heritage, he said meditation in India is not merely a practice but a time-tested science of the mind and spirit. He called upon people to make meditation an integral part of their daily life. He also said the core values of peace, compassion, unity and harmony are more relevant now than ever in a world marked by divisions and conflict.
Stating that the Heartfulness teachings have helped millions to experience inner peace, clarity of heart and emotional balance, The Vice President recalled the country’s role in co-sponsoring the resolution of the UN General Assembly declaring this day as World Meditation Day every year. He further said the move reflected global recognition of meditation’s role in promoting mental well-being and spiritual growth. Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and State IT minister D Sridhar Babu took part in the event.
