Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan today described Guru Tegh Bahadur as a universal symbol of supreme sacrifice and moral courage. Mr Radhakrishnan said this while addressing an Interfaith Conclave to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur in New Delhi. He noted that the Sikh Guru always stood for justice and protected the persecuted.
The Vice President further said that India is leading the world by offering solutions to complex global challenges. He added that the Prime Minister has given a global voice to the Upanishadic ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which reflects the nation’s civilizational wisdom.
Mr Radhakrishnan underlined how Guru Tegh Bahadur taught the world that courage guided by compassion can transform societies, and that silence in the face of injustice is incompatible with true faith.
The Vice-President also said that India’s strength has always been its unity in diversity. He emphasised that the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur resonates deeply with the spirit of the country, where unity is built not through uniformity but through mutual respect and understanding.
