Vice President CP Radhakrishnan concluded his two-day official visit to Sri Lanka today, highlighting strengthened bilateral ties and continued development cooperation.
Vice President today visited Nuwara Eliya, where he paid a visit to the housing units constructed under the Indian Housing Project at Liddlesdale Estate, Ragala, and interacted with beneficiaries. He reaffirmed the country’s commitment to the welfare of Indian-origin Tamil communities, noting that 50 thousand houses have already been delivered across Northern, Eastern, and plantation regions, with an additional 10 thousand planned under the fourth phase.
The Vice President also visited the Seetha Amman Temple and Hanuman Kovil, underscoring shared cultural linkages. He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement on supporting the temple’s renovation.
After arriving in Colombo yesterday, Mr Radhakrishnan held discussions with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, focusing on enhancing cooperation and people-to-people ties. He also addressed a community event where he announced a significant expansion of the OCI scheme and enhancement of educational scholarships and marked the completion of Phase III of the flagship Indian Housing Project with the handover of the final tranche of homes.
