Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan has released a commemorative postage stamp in honour of Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II Suvaran Maran in New Delhi today. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Radhakrishnan appreciated the government’s continuous support for Tamil culture and language. He mentioned several initiatives, including Kashi Tamil Sangamam and lauded the government’s efforts for providing the due recognition and honour to Tamil kings, leaders, and freedom fighters.
The Vice-President further noted that the release of the commemorative postage stamp on Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar was part of this ongoing process of recognition. He underlined that recognising unsung heroes is essential to revive India’s cultural pride as the nation marches towards Viksit Bharat.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L Murugan were present on the occasion.
