In Gujarat, voting for various local body elections is taking place today. Voting began at 7 AM and will continue until 6 PM. While counting of votes will be held on Tuesday. 

 

 

Akashvani correspondent reports voting has begun for the general elections for Junagadh Municipal Corporation, 66 municipalities, 3 Taluka Panchayat, as well as Midterm and by-elections for various local bodies. 

 

 

A total of 5084 candidates are contesting the local body elections. Out of the 2178 seats across 170 local bodies,213 seats have already been declared won unopposed. 

 

 

To ensure a smooth and peaceful polling process, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place. Over 10,000 police personnel have been deployed across the region to maintain law and order during the elections.
