Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan has called upon society to emulate the philosophy of Saint Basaveshwara, who taught us social equality and to serve society. He was speaking after inaugurating the Amrit Mahotsava Celebration of Dr. Basavalinga Pattadevaru Mahaswamiji of Hiremath Samsthan at Sri Channabasavashram of Bhalki in Bidar today. He asked the society to resolve to carry forward the universal vision of Saint Basaveshwara to create a society rooted in equality based on compassion and Dharma.
The Vice President also spoke about the policy of ‘Vikas Bhi Virasat Bhi’ as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stressed that development and heritage must go hand in hand. The Prime Minister has shown that India can be technologically advanced, economically strong and globally influential but remain deeply rooted in our civilizational ethos.
This has helped create a sense of pride in our ancient temples, our ancient language, Sanskrit and in Yoga. There is an awakening about our spiritual legacy and restored self-confidence by reconnecting with Sanathana Dharma. The Vice President also spoke about the significance of women empowerment. He said Nari Shakti empowers the society as a whole. Women in public life give mothers’ touch to her responsibilities. Her compassion and empathy encourage the families to prosper, communities to grow strong, and nations to progress. In a cryptic message, the Vice President said that he has a slight difference of opinion with Mallikarjuna Kharge, the Congress national President. Radhakrishnan said that Kharge, present on the stage in the programme does not differentiate between black and white and between a terrorist and terror to the terrorists.
