Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan Returns from Seychelles, Highlights Deepening India–Seychelles Ties

Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan, who was on a visit to Seychelles to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected President, Dr Patrick Herminie, returned to Coimbatore this morning.

 

 

In a statement Ministry of External Affairs said that during his visit, the Vice-President called on President Dr Patrick Herminie and met Vice-President Sebastien Pillay. He underscored the importance that India attaches to its relations with Seychelles under the vision of Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions (MAHASAGAR) and reiterated India’s commitment to the Global South.

 

 

Discussions during the meetings focused on further strengthening the multifaceted bilateral partnership between India and Seychelles. During the visit, the Vice-President also met the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam.

 

 

While addressing a community reception attended by members of the Indian diaspora in Seychelles, Mr Radhakrishnan lauded their contributions in deepening the cultural and people-to-people ties between the two nations.

 

 

The MEA noted that India and Seychelles share common values of democracy and pluralism, and enjoy a close, long-standing, and time-tested partnership. It said that the Government of India is looking forward to working with the new Government of Seychelles under President Dr Patrick Herminie to further strengthen and expand the bilateral relationship.
