Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan emphasized that mental strength is crucial in the fight against cancer and for achieving victory over the disease. Addressing the 35th convocation of Rajasthan University today in Jaipur, he urged the youth especially to stay away from intoxicants and tobacco to prevent cancer. The Vice President called for large-scale public awareness campaigns to educate people about cancer prevention.

He highlighted that while chemotherapy remains a challenging treatment, recent medical advancements introducing tablet-based therapies are an encouraging development. Expressing concern, he noted the rising number of cancer patients each year. Referring to the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, he said that comprehensive cancer treatment is now accessible under this initiative. On the occasion, Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde stressed the need for a dedicated “Cancer-Free Rajasthan” campaign, similar to the successful tuberculosis eradication drive.
