Venezuela’s Defence Minister, Vladimir Padrino López, warned of U.S. military threats in the Caribbean and condemned recent maneuvers near Venezuelan waters as the greatest threat in a century. Despite tensions, Lopez reaffirmed the country’s commitment to peace. Earlier, Venezuela denounced new US sanctions on Colombian President Gustavo Petro and his associates, calling them illegal and neocolonial. The government urged Latin American unity in defending sovereignty. Meanwhile, Brazil’s Presidential Advisor Celso Amorim expressed concern over US threats against Venezuela, saying regional issues must be resolved through dialogue and respect for sovereignty.
