Vajra Corps Marks 76th Raising Day, Celebrates Legacy as ‘Defenders of Punjab’

The Indian Army’s Vajra Corps marked its 76th Raising Day today, commemorating over seven decades of distinguished service to the Nation. Raised in 1950, it was the first Indian Army Corps to be raised post-Independence.
 
Over the years, the Corps has played a pivotal role along the Western Front, earning distinction in the 1965 and 1971 Wars, including the historic Victories of Dograi, Barki and Khem Karan. The Corps has also consistently demonstrated Operational Excellence and Steadfast Commitment to National Security, including a high level of all-around excellence and support displayed by the troops of Vajra Corps during OP SINDOOR & OP RAHAT and in the conduct of multifarious outreach activities binding the Military with the Civil Administration, Veterans, families and the Civil Society of this vital border state, Punjab.
 
Awarded 25 Battle Honours, 04 Honour Titles and 38 Theatre Honours, Vajra Corps proudly upholds the legacy as the ‘Defenders of Punjab’ as it enters its 76th year of dedicated service to the Nation.
