In Uttar Pradesh, the temperature is breaking all records as the entire state is reeling under a heat wave. On the fifth consecutive day, the Banda district in the state recorded the highest temperature in the country of 47.6°C. Akashvani correspondent reports that Bundelkhand is the worst-hit area, where the temperature has gone beyond 45°C in most parts. 47.6°C in Banda was 4°C above normal, which paralysed life in the city.
Prayagraj was not far behind, with a temperature reaching 46.6°C, 5°C above normal. Varanasi recorded 45.6°C. State capital Lucknow also experienced the hottest day of this season, with mercury rising to 43.6°C, 5 notches above normal. People are having sleepless nights also because of mercury reaching 30°C at night. The Met department has warned about a severe heatwave in some parts of the state.
