US President Trump Open to Talks with Venezuelan President, Keeps Military Option on the Table

US President Donald Trump signaled that he is open to discussions with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro while maintaining that the option of deploying American troops to Venezuela remains on the table. Trump said, he expects talks to occur eventually and argued that Washington must address what he described as a security threat linked to Venezuelan migration. His remarks came as Maduro, during his weekly television address, expressed readiness for direct dialogue and insisted that Venezuela remains stable and willing to engage openly with US officials. Tensions have escalated in recent months as the United States increased military deployments in the Caribbean, citing anti-drug operations targeting networks reportedly operating in Venezuela and Mexico. Several Venezuelan boat crews have died in recent US strikes, and Maduro has condemned recent US military exercises in Trinidad and Tobago.
