US President Orders Temporary Postponement of Planned Strikes on Iranian Energy Targets

US President Donald Trump has said that he has directed the Department of War to temporarily postpone planned strikes against major energy and electricity targets in Iran. Speaking at the White House, Mr Trump said that the decision has been taken based on preliminary conversations between the United States and Iran over the past two days. He said that the US had very good discussions with Iran to determine whether a broader agreement can be reached. He further said the US ensures that Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon.

On the other hand, Iranian state media reported that Tehran has firmly rejected the prospect of talks with Washington, emphasising that no direct dialogue is currently taking place between the two sides. In a statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry dismissed recent remarks by US President Trump, suggesting they are intended to buy time for potential military planning and ease pressure on global energy markets.
